Willie C. Payne

Willie Carl Payne, 64, of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 24, 1956, in Joiner, Arkansas, to Mr. Willie and Edith Payne, who preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Carlando Carr; a loving friend Annie Carr; sisters, Rosie Mae Miller, Alberta Payne, and Almeeta Simmons; brothers, Richard Woods, Eddie Payne, Ralph Payne, Ernest Payne, and Mike Payne.

Willie worked for E.T. Simonds Construction LOCAL 702 for 25 years, later retiring due to health reasons. He grew a passion for “Tinkering” with cars for local people in the community. He spent a great deal of his time with his children, grandchildren, and many others he adopted throughout the years.

He leaves to cherish his legacy two daughters, Phenina Jones of Carbondale, IL and Rena (Brad) DeDecker of Desoto, IL; sons, Robin (Shirley) Jones of Springfield, IL, Willie Jones, Nathan (Sarieta) Carr, Justin (Jaylyn) Carr all of Carbondale, IL, Stevie Carr of Parkhill, MO; sisters, Dollie Faye Payne and Tommie (LC) Nelson of Carbondale, IL, Brenda (Jackie) Rowe of Hayti, MO; brother, Cal Payne ; 21 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and his life long friend Rodney Allen of Carbondale, IL. He will truly be missed by all the lives he impacted.
