Ventura Williams

October 10, 1950 — February 7, 2025

Ventura Williams departed this life on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. She was born on October 10, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late James Williams and Maggie Porter. An only child, she was lovingly raised by her grandmother, Mary Alice Porter.

Ventura was a proud graduate of Sumner High School, class of 1969. She later joined the United States Army. She spent most of her life in St. Louis, Missouri, before relocating to Carbondale, Illinois, in 1996.

She worked for many years at Blue Cross Blue Shield until her retirement. Ventura was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where she found joy and fulfillment in serving her congregation.

Ventura leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Shantell (Charles), Alicia (Alex), Marcella, and Ashley (Daron); grandchildren, Christian, Marcus, Whitney, Alani, Alex, Deasia, James, and Destiny; great-grandchildren, Ja’Mari and Michael III; her aunt, along with many cousins and dear friends.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Final arrangements lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
