Rodney “Hot Rod” Purnell Allen transitioned from this life to eternal life on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Carbondale, Illinois. Rodney was born on July 15, 1965, in Springfield, Illinois, to Quendolia Stacey. At the age of two, he moved to Carbondale, Illinois, where he was lovingly raised by his aunt and uncle, Lorraine and Leroy Brooks.

He attended Carbondale grade schools and Carbondale Community High School before briefly moving to Peoria, where he completed high school. Rodney eventually returned to Carbondale to begin his adult life. He was blessed with four daughters and one grandson. His professional career included working as extra help at SIUC and later in construction for E.T. Simons.

Rodney had a passion for working on cars and enjoyed providing lawn care services to help others. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandson.

Rodney was preceded in death by his mother, Quendolia Stacey; his brother, Duane Stacey; his uncle, Leroy Brooks; his aunts, Kathy Stacey and Lorraine Brooks; his sister, Shelia Stacey; nephews, Andrew Brian Duncan and Andrew Campbell; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Rodney leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, LaQuisha Valliant Allen of Carbondale, Illinois; his four daughters: LaChrystal Greer-Allen of Atlanta, Georgia, Chynna Greer-Allen of Belleville, Illinois, Mariah Allen of Lathrop, California, and Karmella Valliant Allen of Carbondale, Illinois; his beloved grandson, Christian Foulks of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Glenda (Joe) Williams and Tammy (Rusty) Losh of Peoria, Illinois; two brothers, Karlton (Kenya) Stacey of Centralia, Illinois, and Otis (Marie) Allen of Stone Mountain, Georgia; as well as a stepdaughter, three stepsons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rodney will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and deep love for family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Final arrangements were lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
