Richard John Wieging

Richard “Rick” John Wieging, a devoted family man, talented engineer, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 11, 2025.

Early Life and EducationBorn on July 3, 1957 in Lima, Ohio, Rick was the beloved son of the late Alfreda and William Wieging. He graduated from Delphos St. Johns School before earning his degree with honors in Engineering from LTC.

Career and PassionsRick enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as an engineer, a role he embraced with passion and a love for overcoming challenges. His professional life was marked by a commitment to excellence that extended to every project he touched.

Beyond his career, Rick was known for his enthusiasm and zest for life. He loved spending his free time on the golf course, where he shared many memorable moments with his son and grandsons—and even achieved the rare feat of a hole in one! Rick also delighted in playing cards with family and friends and was an avid music lover who played his guitars daily.

Family and LegacyRick is survived by his devoted family, who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his son, Josh (with Carrie), and his grandchildren Dylan, Lennon, Ben, and Jane. He is also remembered by his siblings—brother Bob (with Lorraine), sisters Joan; Terry DeMarco (with Dean); Carolyn Adamo (with Joe); Judy Hines (with Randy); and his sister-in-law, Jill (with John)—along with many nieces and nephews. His brother John preceded him in death.

Rick’s warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit touched the lives of countless family members, lifelong friends, and others who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Final ArrangementsFinal arrangements have been lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.

Rick will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of love, resilience, and joy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
