Nigia L. Petty

Nigia Lamar Petty departed this life on Monday, April 17, 2023 peacefully at his home in Marion, IL.

The hearts of his parents were blessed on the sunrise of March 15, 1998 when he was  born to Anthony and the late Angel (Jones) Petty in Carbondale, IL.

He accepted Christ at an early age and continued to seek the wisdom of his word. He spent most of his childhood in Cairo, IL later moving to Marion, IL. He was employed by Aisin Manufacturing Illinois, LLC.

Nigia was raised by his grandmother, Mary Petty Johnson. With her love he grew into a handsome young man full of life and joy. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed life and spending time with his family and friends. He will truly be missed but will forever be in our hearts.

He leaves to cherish his memory children, Envy and Evianna Taylor, Nianna Pety, Nila Petty, and Avia Petty; his father Anthony (Nakieva) Petty; his brothers, Anthoney Petty Jr., Jo’Vonte Petty, Antwan Petty, Jovey Wilkins, Keyonte Jolliff, and Jo’Marion Wilkins;his sisters Demiesha and Ashley Petty, and Alexya Jones; bonus siblings, Javion, Kamijah, and TaiVon Smith; his grandmother Mary Petty Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins who are close like siblings and special friends who were like brothers that loved him unconditionally.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Angel Petty; grandmother, Vera Choats; uncles, Michael and Maurice Petty.
