Michael G. Kettmann, 56, of Steeleville, Illinois went to keep watch over his family on the streets of Heaven on June 20, 2024, at the Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 11, 1968, in Redbud, Illinois to Bruce and Joann Kettmann.
Above all, Michael’s life was defined by sharing joy and laughter with his family and friends and an unwavering thirst for adventure. Michael loved music, a warm meal surrounded by family, and a hearty laugh watching his favorite shows. His charming sense of humor bordered on zany. He handled the hard stuff well, putting his faith in God as a man of the Catholic faith to carry him through his battle with cirrhosis.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, the dear Gerard and Matilda Kettmann and the loving Henry and Adele Loeh.
Michael is survived by his adoring parents, Bruce and Joann Kettmann (née Loeh) of Steeleville; his three beautiful children, Michael Jr., Matthew, and Michaelie of St. Louis; his caring sister, Michelle (Robert) Gilliam and their daughter, Michael’s niece, Ashley (William) Gilliam; and his three compassionate aunts, Jacqueline, Jill, and Jean.
As he came to the end of his lengthy battle with liver cirrhosis, it was Michael’s wish to be cremated and for a private service. This wish was fulfilled with the respectful and gentle assistance of Southern Cremation and Burial Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Liver Foundation.
