Michael E. Brewer

Michael Eugene Brewer, age 58, of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Born on October 7, 1966, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital, Michael was the beloved son of Deanna and Marvin Brewer. He is now reunited with his parents, daughter Breanna Brewer, and granddaughter Cortana Faye Brewer/Browder.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Wright. He leaves behind his cherished son,  Christopher (Stephanie) Brewer. He was a proud grandfather to Cortana Brewer/Browder and Charles Brewer and eagerly anticipated the arrival of his third grandchild.

Michael is also survived by five siblings: Theresa Clover, Chester (Cassandra) Brewer, Johnathen Brewer, Christine Arnold, and Carolyn (Mark Jr.) Bradford, along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss him dearly.

A man of deep faith, Michael worshipped at Jubilee Tabernacle Church in DeSoto, Illinois. Known for his dedication and work ethic, Michael spent many years as a truck driver before Multiple Sclerosis (MS) forced him into early retirement. He found joy in cheering on his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, fishing, and building an impressive collection of model cars.

Michael’s legacy of love, perseverance, and devotion will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.

Details of a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.

Final arrangements were lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
