Melody Ann Wedding

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Melody Ann Wedding, who left us on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

Melody was born on May 13, 1962, in Marion, IL, to Kyle and Charles Hanley. She grew up in Marion and cherished her lifelong friendships from childhood. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she found joy in spending time with her loved ones, crafting, and decorating her home. Though she had been unable to attend church in recent years, her faith remained strong, and she found great comfort in her Bible, always keeping it close.

Melody is survived by her loving husband, David; her mother, Kyle Bird; her sons, Braun (Emily) Williams, Stephen Williams, and Ethan Wedding; and her adored grandchildren, Alyssa and Gavin Williams. She is also survived by her siblings, Donald (Yvonne) Bird, Kenneth (Kay) Bird, Kevin Bird, Scott (Alba) Bird, David (Tina) Bird, and Angie (Richie) Jones; her sisters-in-law, Laura Smith and Kimberly Hudspeth; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Hanley; her stepfather, Eugene Bird; her maternal grandparents, Zola and Robert Bowie; her in-laws, Brenda and Bud Wedding; and her brother-in-law, Matthew Wedding.

A celebration of Melody’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Christian Life Church in Herrin, Illinois.

Melody’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Final arrangements were lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
