Marjorie Martin

CUTLER

Marjorie Ann Martin, 64, went to be with the Lord July 16, 2021, 8:42 am at her home in Cutler, IL with her husband Herbert by her side.


Marjorie was the youngest of three children born May 26, 1957 to Major Thomas Connolly and Mary Ann Connolly (nee) Tibbets. Her parents and two brothers, Thomas Connolly and John Connolly preceded her in death. She graduated from Anna-Jonesboro high school in 1975.  She attended SIU-C
where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education.

Then in 1978 after college, Marjorie joined The United States Army where she proudly served her country until 1986.
During her military career, Marjorie rose to the rank of Sergeant.  While stationed in Germany, she worked as a Nike-Hercules Missile Technician, becoming the first female Missile Technician there.


Marjorie continued her military career as a Medic with the 517th M.A.S.H. Unit and ended her Military career as a Clerk Typist for the Aviation Maintenance Dept at Fort Campbell KY.
Marjorie enjoyed many hobbies which included Traveling, Gardening, Cooking, Teaching Roller Hockey to the kids in her and her son's neighborhood, Archery, Bowling, Softball, Basketball, and Swimming.


She was very active in her community with being a Sunday School teacher, Volunteering at the Rochester NY Right to Life group, numerous food pantries and being the Adjutant at American Legion Post Joseph Gallipiau 294, where she also was active in the Post Auxiliary in Avon NY, as well as a devoted member of the Denmark Baptist Church, Cutler, IL.

Marjorie married Herbert L Martin Jr. on May 29, 1999 at Tower Grove Park in St Louis Mo. They have four children Scott Connolly of St Louis Mo, Alana Connolly of Rochester NY, Christine (Andrew) Edwards of St Louis Mo, and Candace Aston of St Louis Mo.
Marjorie also had two grandchildren, Megan (Clay) Ream of North Carolina and Katherine Rose Aston of St. Louis Mo.
She also had seven sisters (In-laws) that loved her very much...Carol (Steve) Miller of Warrenton, Mo. Cheryl Bange (Richard) King of Warrenton, Mo. Mary (Ed) Wittenbrink of Steeleville, IL. Jeannie Holder of St. Charles, Mo. Cyndi (Wayne) Williams of Chula Vista CA, Karen Martin of O'Fallon Mo. and Janet (Bill) Daugherty of Pinckneyville, IL.
