LaSonya Marie Stuckey

October 16, 1971 — February 14, 2025

Cairo

LaSonya Marie Stuckey, affectionately known as "Cissy," transitioned into Eternal Rest on Friday, February 14, 2025, Valentine’s Day, after a courageous and long battle with cancer, surrounded by her beloved family.

Born on October 16, 1971, to Jimmie Lee Stuckey and the late Rosemary (Jones) Reeves, Cissy’s life was one full of love, warmth, and joy. She was a proud graduate of Cairo School District #1, Class of 1989, and continued her studies with general education courses at Shawnee Community College.

For over 18 years, Cissy worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Kitchen Aide at Daystar Nursing Center, where she touched the lives of many with her dedication, compassion, and kindness. Her life was centered around family, and she was a beloved mother to her daughters, Demia, LaKendra, and Myeshia. Cissy was known for her Southern hospitality, making everyone feel at home. She and her partner, Maurice Purdiman Sr., were known for hosting big cookouts and bringing fun, laughter, and joy wherever they went. Cissy had a special gift of never meeting a stranger—her warmth and outgoing spirit made her a friend to all.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her life partner, Maurice Purdiman Sr.; three loving daughters, Demia Garrett, LaKendra Purdiman, and Myeshia Purdiman; grandchildren, Je’Reah and LeNaah Pilgram, Emonie Bridges, Jamond Rush, JeKobe Pilgram, Amiyah and Sandra Rush; her father, Jimmie Lee Stuckey; siblings, Troy (Chanel) Stuckey, Chetaka Stuckey, LaToya (Michael) Stephens, Jimmie Lee Stuckey Jr., Sandra Robinson, Alice Banks ; nine nephews and one niece; nine great-nieces and four great-nephews; her grandmother, Lillie Mae Jones; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her deeply.

Cissy was preceded in death by her grandparents; mother, Rosemary Reeves; brother, Demetrius Stuckey; aunts, uncles and many other relatives.

Though she is no longer with us, her laughter, warmth, and legacy of kindness will continue to inspire and comfort all those who were blessed to know her. May she rest in peace, and may her family find solace in the many beautiful memories she leaves behind

Final arrangements were lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
