James Patrick Lane

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of James Patrick Lane, age 69, who passed away peacefully at his home on March 7, 2025, in Carbondale, Illinois.

James was born on November 10, 1955, in Hinsdale, Illinois, to Richard and Hazel Lane. He grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois, and graduated from Downers Grove North High School. In 1977, he earned his degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, a place he cherished deeply. After raising his children, Sam and Sandy, with his beloved wife, Jeannine, in St. Charles, Illinois, he spent his final years enjoying retirement in Carbondale.

A passionate musician, James played bass guitar in several bands throughout his life. He was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and an endless repertoire of “dad jokes” and funny stories. His kindness, warmth, and laughter touched the lives of those around him, and he will be deeply missed.

James is survived by his wife, Jeannine; his children, Samuel and Sandra; his brother, Richard; and his sisters, Margaret and Susan.

His family and friends will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
