Carl (Bud) Lass Jr, 81, of Carbondale, IL, passed away peacefully at Fairview Nursing Home. He has gone to be with Our Lord, Jesus.
Beloved son of the late Carl and Louise (Graham) Lass, he is preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Donna and step-daughter, Amy.
Thankfully, he remained home with his devoted daughter, Tina and treasured, great granddaughter, Emma, until nearly the end. “Bud” was a Lifetime member of the Midwest Operating Engineers, Local 150. He was a hard worker and his extensive career spanned many years and miles. Bud was well respected in his field and taught many operators how to run heavy equipment. He was owner/operator of Lass Excavating Contractors. He was an avid Harley man and over the past few years took long motorcycle trips with his son, Carl.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Tina (Tim) Conaway and cherished son, Carl (Blessie) Lass III, step-daughter Denise Smith, granddaughter, Maria Lass, great granddaughter, Emma Lass, step-grandson, Joshua Künzli, brother Dick (Carol) Lass, many nieces, nephews and their children, extended family and friends. In remembering Bud, we celebrate a life well lived, a good man, with a big heart. He was resilient, lived each day to the fullest and always said “One day it’s the peanuts, the next day it’s the shells.”, His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his memory will live on in the stories they share and the love they hold for him.
The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services.
