Bonnie Jo Yager, 50, of Carbondale, IL, passed away on October 6, 2023 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, IL.
Bonnie was born on November 11, 1972 to the late Gerald and Sylvia May in Peoria, IL. She often traveled a lot as a child making school a challenge but she still managed to graduate from an alternative high school program with honors.
Bonnie went on to pursue a degree in Education at Illinois Central College and Bradley University in Peoria, IL. Her passion for teaching led to many years of joy, reaching and teaching many young minds.
Bonnie met her first spouse in high school, they soon became married and to this union three beautiful children were born Jeremy, Alyssa and Cameron (Carmen) Walton. She was so driven to finish college as a young mother, she graduated with her Master's Degree in Education from Bradley University. She went on teaching for Peoria School District #150 and Pleasant Valley School District 62 in Peoria, IL.
She later met and remarried the love her life William Christopher Yager. The two of them were inseparable, Chris and Bonnie shared a strong love for each other and to this union their baby boy was born, Aaron Yager. Chris was able to experience his first and only son with Bonnie and to complete her family.
Bonnie often enjoyed baking, listening to her favorite artist Joan Jett, looking and working on cars and motorcycles. in her spare time she often liked reading and writing poetry. She was a dedicated and devoted mother to her children. She tried her best to raise them to be responsible and loving adults. She loved her family which always came first. It was a value she instilled in all of those around her. She was kind hearted and she touched so many lives with her love.
Bonnie is survived by her four children, Jeremy, Alyssa, Cameron (Carmen) Walton and Aaron Yager; her mother Sylvia May; one brother, Chris May; grandchildren, Zayne Hemmele, Ezra and Elena Walton.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald May; her husband, William Christopher Yager; grandparents, Sammuel and Nellie May; sister, Stephanie Armstrong; brother, Gerald May II.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services.
