Annie Mae Hawes, 73, of Jonesboro, IL, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion, IL. Born to the late Charles Arthur Hawes and Annie Geneva Fitzgerald in July 1962, Annie lived a life marked by unwavering strength, resilience, and boundless love.

A true fighter from the start, Annie was born with a heart condition, a challenge she battled throughout her life with courage and grace. She was also a dialysis patient at Westbrook, where she formed many close relationships with staff who provided her with care and love. Her strength in the face of adversity inspired all who knew her.

Annie was a woman of deep faith, and she loved Jesus Christ with all her heart. She spread the Gospel and the love of Jesus wherever she went, touching countless lives with her kindness, joy, and unshakable belief. She was the embodiment of unconditional love in a world that often feels scarce of it, and her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Megen Rundles Perkins, and son-in-law, Anthony Perkins Jr.; her dear relatives, Brenda Taylor Perkins, Ayesha Perkins, Antonio Taylor, and many more family members. Annie also leaves behind her four beloved sisters: Rose Powell, Bessie Pleasant, Francis Harris, and Bertha Garner, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who loved her deeply.

Annie’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to live on in the love and memories she so freely gave. A brave and tough warrior, Annie's life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and perseverance. Her memories will remain cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Annie will always be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and her ability to inspire others. May she rest in peace, knowing that her life has touched the world in the most profound ways.

Final arrangements were lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
